Muddin' Time

You might have noticed that there haven't been any updates to the site recently, that's because we're taping and mudding the drywall. This process seems to drag on forever as you wait for the previous coat to dry finally and then realize you have to do it 3 more times. Fortunately, we only have one more coat to go, then it's on to texturing and sealing the walls.

Bathroom Details

Since we decided to tile the shower enclosure, we installed Hardi-board all around the tub. As you can see, Aaron had a heck of a time with it.

From Drywall to Greenboard

Since traditional drywall is susceptible to water damage, in the bathroom and we substituted a moisture resistant drywall known as greenboard. The area around the tub is left undone to accommodate a cement backerboard to support tile walls.

Looking from the door towards the tub. Tomorrow we'll put up the Hardiboard (cement backerboard around the tub) and that should complete the interior walls.

More Progress with Drywall

The dedicated continued their work on the drywall. We've made great progress and are getting close to being done putting up the boards.

Drywall!

The drywall was delivered Wednesday morning and by that afternoon we began installing it. The hardest sheets to install are the large ceiling boards in the back room. It took a few of us to get them up but we did that right away, and everything has gone smoothly since then!

Utilities

The Quiet House's new utility systems are in!

We've now got two new septic tanks, a water line, the phone line, and electrical lines in. They are underground, and it was difficult to excavate the area because the ground here is hardpan, but it makes for a very firm foundation and a "house built on a rock."

Camp had to sustain some superficial disturbance on the grounds to get all these new systems in, but grass seed is on the way to have the famous Bow-Isle green back before summer starts.

Exterior: Whole and Complete

The outside of the quiet house is now completely finished! It has it's lining plastic trimmed, windows trimmed, corners finished and all the siding is up, on and looking good, as well as all the gutters and the chimney on the roof.

The only parts that aren't completely done are the decorative braces on the front and back deck boards which will be completed at a later date. We're now focusing on lining the inside of the building with vapor barrier plastic so it will be prepped to start hanging drywall on Wednesday.
